Exams

Once you have finished the course and received your certificate of completion, you can apply and schedule your exam with the American Board of Wound Management by following the steps below:

If this is your first time taking the exam:

Step 1.

Download and complete the application and candidate handbook for the correct National Board Certification Examination. If you're unsure of which application you need, you can visit: ABWM's Certification Eligibility Page.

Step 2.

Submit your fully completed application to:

There are many specifications on what needs to be included with your application and how it is needed to be sent. Please read the instructions on the downloaded application carefully. You can also read full details on the ABWM's website on how to prepare your application.

Once your application has been approved you will receive and email and a mailed postcard from ABWM's testing company AMP/PSI. These will include instructions on how to schedule your exam. You only have 90 days from the date of your approval to schedule your exam at a local testing center. They do not grant extensions.

Step 3.

Once you have received the email and postcard, you can schedule your exam at a local testing center.

You can schedule online by visting GoAmp.com and choose "candidates" in the top menu.

Step 4.

Study and prepare for your exam! We encourage you to take the ABWM Foundations Practice Exams and review their Study Guides and Flash Cards.

Step 5.

Once you have completed your exam, your score report will be generated for you immediately.

If you pass your exam you will become an Associate or Diplomate of the ABWM. They will send you a welcome packet within 2-4 weeks of passing.

You will also be issued a certificate by AMP.

You will be required to renew your certification annually and you will be required to re-certify after ten years.

If you do not pass the exam, you can apply to retest after 30 days. You can reapply using the Re-Test Application Form for up to 2 years from your original exam date. For further details, visit the ABWM's website.
